Our base is a unique combination of evangelism, training and mercy ministries. The city is our classroom and we learn from it as much as possible.

Serving the Church

YWAM Las Vegas partners with local churches, leaders and officials in order to serve and minister effectively. Our purpose as the mobile church is to help equip, train and inspire the local church into a life of missions both here and abroad. We also work hard to integrate the local church in the ministries that our base pioneers, often eventually handing those ministries over to the local church completely.

One example is The Street Cafe that YWAM Las Vegas started as a homeless ministry. The ministry was largely successful, so much so that is quickly became bigger than our then current staff could facilitate. After working with several local churches in this ministry, we were able to turn it over wholly to them to carry on.

Changing the City

Our next big project is centered around our new building, a 10,000 sq ft former drug rehabilitation facility located in central Las Vegas. Named "The Pier", not only will this facility be the central location for our schools and training, but also be a warehouse of ministries focusing on the residents of the local, needy neighborhood. Located in historic West Las Vegas, The Pier will offer food distribution, English as a second language classes, after school clubs and medical clinics to low income families through volunteer workers from local churches as well as full time YWAM staff. This visionary approach calls for all hands on deck from both the local and mobile church, requiring us to work together in a unity rarely seen in America today in order to make a real impact on our society.

Reaching the Nations

Of course a YWAM base wouldn't be a YWAM base without a missions focus. Our Mission Adventures program and Discipleship Training School both have local and international focuses to maximize our effectiveness wherever we are. While our MA program has a heavier focus on local ministries, the DTS is the real heart of overseas missions. We currently offer two varieties of the DTS, one of which focuses on unreached people groups and the persecuted church, both of which are much neglected in Christianity at large. In this way, YWAM Las Vegas pursues a holistic biblical worldview and purpose, being an influence on both a local and global scale.
